Our firm

Itaya & Associates, a registered patent and trademark firm specializing in intellectual property law, was founded in Osaka in 1988 by Yasuo Itaya, a patent attorney. 

We are active in the areas of intellectual property law, including: patent application preparation and prosecution, trademarks, designs, litigation and licensing both in domestic and foreign corporations.

We are specialized in the field of electronic, electrical, mechanical, and information technologies.

Specialty

The firm has ten attorneys and fourteen staffs including technical, secretarial and administrative staffs.

The firm represents major electrical manufacturing corporations, information industrial corporations, and precision machinery manufacturing corporations, including Panasonic Electric Works Co.,Ltd. and Funai Electric Co., Ltd.

Attorneys

Yasuo ITAYA

received a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from State Okayama University in 1968. He worked at Intellectual Property Rights Division of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. Mr. Itaya was registered as a patent attorney in 1978, and worked at Sankyo Patent Attorneys Office in charge of electromechanical field. He is a committee member of Japan Patent Attorneys Association, a member of Kansai Patent Studying Group (KTK), and AIPPI. He is a part-time professor of Ritsumaikan University.  He is qualified to represent as a specified infringement lawsuit.

Katsumi TAGUCHI

received a Bachelor of Precision Mechanical and Electronic Engineering from Osaka University in 1979. He was employed in Minolta Co., Ltd. and was then employed by patent attorneys in 1985. He was registered as a patent attorney in 2001, and joined the firm. 

Shinichi MIZUTA

graduated from the Department of Law and Literature of State Okayama University in 1983. He was employed in a computer company as a system engineer. In 1996 he joined the firm. He was registered as a patent attorney in 2002(specialized in information technology). 

Seiji NISHIUCHI

received a Master of Chemistry from State Kochi University in 1997. He was employed in a chemical manufacturing company as an engineer. He was registered as a patent attorney in 2002(specialized in applied chemical), and joined the firm. Now, he is studying IP in China.

Masayuki ITAYA

received a Master of Biotechnology from Kyoto University in 2001. He was registered as a patent attorney in 2005. He is now belonging to IP division of Matsushita Electric Works, Ltd.

Shougo NAKAGAWA

received a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Doshisha University in 1998. He was employed in a computer system company as an engineer. He passed the patent attorneys examination in 2002, and joined the firm. He is also a member of IP division in Kyoto University.

Jyugo URA

received a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Wakayama University in 1990. He was employed in a material company as an engineer. He joined the firm. in 2000, and passed the patent attorneys examination in 2007.
